Lives and works on the island of Nagu, Turku Archipelago
Anna Nyreen brings critical conceptual and socially engaged thought into dialogue with the materiality of ceramic in her practice. For some time now she has been interested in the intensely tactile nature of ceramic objects and the affects this has on the viewers when they are allowed to touch and hold the works. She is currently developing a collaborative project together with health professionals with a focus on, in particular, eating disorders.
Nyreen moved back to the island of Nagu a decade ago after many years studying and working in Copenhagen, Denmark. She now runs a ceramic studio and a small gallery, organizes workshops and has been teaching in Pargas and Nagu.
